Our BIM Journey for Landscape Architecture

Our BIM Journey for Landscape Architecture

Since 2014 we have been committed to incorporating Building Information Modelling (BIM) into our working procedures.

We have adopted Autodesk Revit as our principle 3D modelling software and broken new ground on designing BIM Level 2 schemes. Our ‘BIM Journey’ has been a steep learning curve however, to ensure compatibility with other design and construction disciplines it is now our system of choice for all design based projects within the practice.

Collaborative working is an integral part of our design delivery. Working within Common Data Environments (CDE) to coordinate with others in the design team, contractors and clients. Our Quality Management System (QMS) has been rewritten in line with PAS 1192 to ensure our coherence with the industry standards of naming, revising and issuing drawings.

Ryder Landscape Consultants are committed to continuing the development of BIM systems to our clients and fellow designers. We offer a short presentation ‘BIM through the Landscape’ on our lessons learnt in BIM and collaborative working which we have showcased at BIM Open Mic 2017 and a number of Architectural and Construction firms. Discussing coordination, collaboration and 3D modelling is a proven positive step in the transition from 2D to BIM, to understand software limitations, PAS 1192 process and collaborative procedures.
