Wharfedale Hospital Housing Development

Ryder Landscape Consultants where appointed by PJ Livesey to develop landscape proposals and planning application material associated with the redevelopment of the listed former Wharfedale Hospital building, located in Otley, into apartments and the development of new high end housing within its grounds.

The proposals included the restoration of the setting and historic boundary walls and railings associated with some of retained listed buildings and the creation of a new area of green space within the development to protect a large group of existing mature trees. Mature shrub planting at key locations around the site, formal hedging and tree lined streets where proposed to create a sense of prestige when entering and navigating around the development.

Garden boundaries where made up of mature hedge planting to soften the development and maintained the surrounding landscape character creating an instance screen between gardens. Planting along the sites boundaries was designed to create a green buffer between existing neighbouring developments and the site.
