Dunwood Park

Ryder Landscape Consultants were commissioned by Oldham Council in 2009 to develop Heritage Lottery Stage 2 proposals and input into the Conservation Management Plan for Dunwood Park a highly valued public park originally built in the 1930’s. In conjunction with Friends of the Park we worked to restore a number of the historical features and enhance existing recreational facilities situated within the more formal area of the park as well as along the riverside and within the mature woodland. Ryder Landscape Consultants also worked closely with LEP Architects and Contractors to ensure integration of the the new community building within the wider proposals.

As part of the proposals, a new natural play area was introduced which saw an artificial climbing boulder constructed and installed and also a new dipping platform along the existing stream providing. New paths were constructed and existing paths were resurfaced enabling the park to be accessed by everyone wishing to use the park. A new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) was installed to replace the old deteriorating one and refurbishments to the existing bowling pavilion and a conversion to the community building also took place.
