Nottingham Victoria Recreation Park
Ryder Landscape Consultants were instructed to produce a masterplan for Nottingham Victoria Recreation Park that would allow the incorporation of the new flood defence embankment along the east embankment of the River Trent. Victoria Recreational Park forms part for wider Meadows area and was once a popular Victorian recreational park but has since become popular with outdoor sports such as local football leagues, cricket clubs and general public recreation.
With the proposed flood defence works, a large portion of the park would be consumed by the proposed embankments footprint resulting in the loss of sports fields and removal of a number of mature trees. However we were able to provide advice and consultation to enable that the existing sport pitches could be retained. The proposals also saw a new children’s playground installed and reinstatement works to the historic park gates.
We produced the masterplan and consulted closely with both Nottingham City Council and Sports England and took part in a number of public consultation events to gain approval for the proposals.
