Trepassey Residential Home Redevelopment
Ryder Landscape Consultants have been appointed to develop landscape design proposals for the redevelopment of an existing residential home named Trepassey located in Heswell on the Wirral by Cheshire Residential Care Homes. The design proposals include the development of a new dementia facility within the home and our proposals have responded to the needs of residents with dementia as not to prevent them from experiencing the outdoors in a safe environment.
The landscape proposals are split into three main elements:The roof terrace – an area for residents not requiring dementia care to relax and enjoy the outdoors whilst surrounded by large raised planters and garden style planting, comfy seating and great views of the Dee Estuary.
The walled garden – an area directly linked to the dementia facilities and designed to accommodate the needs of those residents with dementia, this area includes low level planting, regular seating, footpaths, a covered walk way and an outdoor toilet and is designed to give the impression of a domestic garden to those that use it.
The woodland garden – makes up the remainder of the grounds around the home, it has been designed as a place for family of take their relatives which is quite and away from the main areas of the home. There is also an informal play space to be used by children who visit the home to see their relatives.
As a whole the landscape design proposals maximise the use of a limited amount of space within the site boundary to provide all the facilities the home requires to operate an effective and attractive facility. They overcome significant changes in level using interesting design solutions and retain the existing mature tree stock the currently inhabits the site, as not to adversely affect the setting of the adjacent Conservation Area.
