West Bridgford Flood Alleviation
West Bridgford is a suburb of Nottingham positioned along the right bank of the River Trent, it had been prone to river flooding.
The solution was a mix of floodwalls along garden boundaries and embankments in open areas. Compensatory habitat and improved recreation was formed at Iremongers’ Pond which was a former land-locked gravel pond which was reconnected to the River Trent.
Works included access improvements, planting, fishing platforms, marginal planting and monitoring of the works.
